Turkish language is introduced in Albanian schools, Albanian language in Turkey

 The agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Government of Turkey on cooperation in the field of education was published in the Official Gazette on March 2.

What stands out from the agreement reached is the introduction of the Turkish language in Albanian schools as a subject of a foreign language of free choice, with the aim of a pilot program in the Turkish language.

Article 2. point 9 provides for the exchange of experiences in the design and improvement of educational materials used in both countries.



While below, article 3. point 2, also sanctions the introduction of the Turkish language in schools. At this point, it is clearly stated that the parties will encourage the teaching and learning of the official language of the other party, as well as the literature and culture of the other party, within their education system.

The Parties shall encourage the teaching and learning of the official language of the other Party, as well as the literature and culture of the other Party, within their educational system.

The Albanian side intends to conduct an assessment of the requirements, to learn Turkish as a foreign language as a subject of free choice, in order to announce a pilot program in Turkish.

The Albanian side will provide annual quotas for the participation of Turkish scholars/students in summer seminars/courses of Albanian language and culture.
