26-year-old Albanian Arber Gashi has been elected chairman of the Social Democratic Party in the city of Halmstad, which is the highest position held by an Albanian in Sweden.

"Tonight I have been assigned to the greatest confidence of my life so far - to become the chairman of the Social Democrats in Halmstad. I am extremely happy and grateful, but above all humbled before the confidence I have gained from our members. I look forward to leading our worker s' municipality before what is to come - an important church election, the elections 2022 and an internal journey where we develop our party organization. The most important promise I have to make is that together with the newly elected board, I will do everything I can to lead an organization that will be reflected by faith in the future, transparency and respect. I want to thank everyone who has nominated me, who believed in me and who supports me daily. You know who you are, and without you I would never have had the energy." Arbër Gashi declared in a Facebook post who started the political path in his youth and today is its leader.
