The EU is giving 5.5m euros to Albania to fight organized crime

 5.5 million euros is the financial value that the European Union offered this Tuesday to law enforcement agencies in Albania, to fight organized crime. The allocated fund is expected to modernize the Scientific Police Institute, while the SPAK and the National Bureau of Investigation will also benefit.

The European Union is allocating a 5.5m-euro fund to Albania aimed at empowering Albanian law enforcement agencies in the fight against organized crime.

The EU Ambassador in Tirana, Luigi Soreca presented the project that aims to modernize mainly in infrastructure the criminal and financial investigation of the Albanian authorities.

With 5.5 million euros, including 2.4 million euros for equipment, this will enable prosecutors' offices, law enforcement agencies, tax authorities, as well as customs and financial intelligence units to build the wanted expertise and to increase their ability to detect serious and organized crime activity", said Mr. Soreca.
