 The Armed Forces will be committed to mass vaccination of the population against Covid-19. The news was announced by the Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi from the city of Korça, where begun the vaccination of health personnel in this region. According to him, the government's intention to vaccinate the entire population within 14 months puts in charge any institution that has the opportunity to contribute to achieving this goal.

 "We have very strong signals, as conveyed by the Prime Minister, that Albania will be one of the first countries in the region, I hope, that will provide mass vaccination, that will provide vaccines for the entire population. This puts us in the position when I say us, of all the institutions that have the opportunity to lend a hand in the vaccination process and here I am talking now about the Armed Forces, about the Ministry of Defense, puts us in the responsibility and the need to engage all our resources. The Armed Forces will be in charge of intensive, mass vaccination. We have about 100 nurses within our structure, but we have a lot of logistics, we have a lot of places that we can open in every municipality, in every town, or big villages in case such a system is to be set up, we have staff medical, not only nurses, but also doctors, we have means of transport, we have a lot of logistics that will be all in the function of intensive vaccination "

Minister Peleshi together with the head of the Department of Epidemiology and Infectious Disease Control at the Institute of Public Health Tirana Dr. Silva Bino, followed closely the start of the vaccination process of the health personnel of the Korça region.

Bino announced that within 2 days it is intended to vaccinate about 500 doctors, nurses, dentists, and health care personnel in the entire region of Korça.
