50 MW photovoltaic plant in Fier, two companies submit the request to MEI

Projects in high-capacity photovoltaic parks have once again returned to attention.

Two companies merged into one have submitted to the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MEI) the request to build a plant with a capacity of 50 MW. MEI informed that the Temporary merger of the companies "BLESSED INVESTMENT" sh.pk and "MATRIX KONSTRUKSION" sh.pk, has expressed interest and has submitted to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, the application for the construction of a photovoltaic plant for the production of energy from renewable sources, with an installed capacity of 50 MW, which does not benefit from support measures, in Shek Marinas Area, Fier Municipality, Fier county.

This is in the continuation of other applications made to MEI, while so far there is still no plant with such capacity built and put into operation. Most are plants up to 2MW which are given through the decision that considers atypical concessions and that is given only with the signature of the responsible minister.

Currently is expected to begin the construction of the photovoltaic plant in Karavasta by the French company Voltalia.

The latter offered a price of 24.89 euros per megawatt in the auction held, much more favorable than the ceiling of 55 euros per megawatt previously set by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy in its documents.

Karavasta photovoltaic park is designed with a power of 140 MW, where 70 megawatts are allocated for production and sale in the free market and 70 megawatts at a regulated price. The regulated price lasts for 15 years and will be purchased by the Energy Distribution Operator.

Only a few days ago, Minister Belinda Balluku announced that the competition for another photovoltaic plant in Spitalë will be opened very soon.
