The Socialist Party Parliamentary Group Chairman Taulant Balla welcomed yesterday's decision by Foreign Minister Gent Cakaj to merge the embassy in Athens.

He said that in the wake of this decision, the same decision should be made if the situation is the same at embassies or other consulates.

"I welcome Cakaj's decision, a strong but necessary decision to get things back on track. This approach should continue in other consulates where the service is not of what should be", he said.

The acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, dismissed all the staff of the Albanian Embassy in Athens on Wednesday of this week, including the ambassador.

A source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said to Oculus News that this act was motivated by Cakaj relating to poor performance and services to the Albanian community.
