90 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the last 24 hours in our country and 3 people have died. Meanwhile, 80 patients are being treated at the infectious disease hospital in Tirana, including a 2-month-old child.

Marjeta Dervishi, an epidemiologist at the IPH, told Euronews Albania that the 2-month-old baby and her mother were hospitalized with clinical signs of COVID-19 - mainly fever - and are under full monitoring by a pediatrician in a stable condition.

While emphasizing that the case of the 2-month-old baby with COVID-19 is the first in Albania when a child presents with clinical signs and is hospitalized, because as he explained, in general, the cases of children in our country have had no complications.

Mrs. Dervishi said that since the onset of pandemics in our country, 125 children have been infected with COVID-19.

Epidemiology linked the increased number of cases with COVID-19 in Albania in recent weeks with the relief of post-quarantine measures, accompanied by a marked lack of cooperation from citizens in the implementation of safeguards.

"There needs to be an increase in awareness to respect measures that are very simple. It is mandatory to use masks indoors, the virus is among us.

After the quarantine period, the opposite happened, we did not respect the protection measures =", said Mrs. Dervishi.
