Two members of the Albanian parliamentary opposition have withdrawn their signatures from the document amending the Constitution, which changes the electoral system.

Deputies Artur Roshi and Besnik Troplini have announced that, in conditions of uncertainty as to how the intervention in the Constitution will take place, they no longer stand by their signatures. Meanwhile, a surprising attitude from the ranks of the Socialists.

MP Adnor Shameti says that the lists should be opened, and consequently, the pre-election coalitions should be banned. The parliamentary opposition risks not fulfilling its request to change the Constitution, in articles that sanction the electoral system.

A few hours after the request with 29 signatures was submitted to the Assembly, the signatories who request open lists but also the prohibition of pre-election coalitions, have decided to give up.

The leader of the Balli Kombëtar Demokrat Party, Artur Roshi, has announced the withdrawal of his signature and MP Besnik Troplini from the amendment of the Constitution. The withdrawal, as Roshi says, is done in conditions of uncertainty about how the Constitution will be affected.
