In Albania, another person with COVID 19 lost his life, becoming the 8th victim in the last eight days. According to the health authorities, it is about a 69-year-old man from Kruja with acute leukemia, who was receiving intensive treatment for 10 days in the infectious disease hospital. Only yesterday, 3 people lost their lives in this hospital. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 42 victims have been registered in Albania.

Today, 50 other infected people were reported, scattered in 12 cities of the country: 17 cases in Tirana, 6 in Kruja, 5 in Lezha, 4 cases in Shkodra, Durres, Fier, 3 in Korca, 2 cases in Vlora and Elbasan and from 1 case respectively in Kurbin, Mirdita, and Saranda. Most of them are considered as new cases and not contacts of previously affected persons.

In the last 10 days, the number of infected people is increasing at a rapid pace, reaching 575 cases or 31 percent of the total since the onset of pandemics in March. For many days, the number of those affected has been significantly higher than that of those treated, while there are 682 active cases across the country. The vast majority are in Tirana, 317 infected, followed by Durrës with 140 people and Shkodra, 112 others active.

During the last 24 hours, the number of hospitalized patients has increased again, where there are 64 patients, 7 of them are in intensive care and 1 is intubated.

The Ministry of Health reiterated calls for the need to comply with safety rules and protocols, stating that it is working closely with the State Police to prevent any positive person from breaking the rule by quarantining until full recovery.
