17 Syrian, Kurdish, Algerian, and Moroccan citizens have been arrested on Wednesday morning by the Border Police and FRONTEX. These citizens were found entering Greece in the direction of Albania on the green line near the village of Trestenik.

In recent days, the number of citizens coming from countries in the conflict (like Siria) that seek to enter our country and then move to European Union countries has increased. Under such conditions, the border police and FRONTEX have increased the number of oficers along the entire green borderline. However, there are many who manage to escape the police network, assisted by other people who transport refugees to the capital but also to the northern cities in exchange for amounts of up to 500 euros.

The 63 km length of the borderline with Greece in the southeast of the country, the few vehicles, the rugged mountainous terrain and the small number of police officers make it impossible to fully control the entire line.
