 33 employees of the Epidemiological Health Center in Tirana have gone on strike today after not receiving the promised salaries of the front line of the war against Covid-19 and have not been paid for overtime work.

According to Zija Alhysa, head of the Health Trade Union and an employee at this center, since November 26, this group of employees have not yet received their salaries in terms of overtime work.

Meanwhile, during the last two months, they are on the first line against Covad-19 as they have to be in contact with potential people affected by coronavirus. He and his colleagues waited for ferry passengers and conducted their checks against Convid 19, and according to him, they reached up to 40 tampons a day.

"We are on strike today. We are 33 employees of the Epidemiological Health Center as we have not received any salary as provided for doctors and nurses who are on the front lines of the war with Covid-19. This was not enough, but today, as soon as it was learned about our strike, was exerted pressure on this center so that they would not go on strike. Employees are isolated in the center and do not go out to work, but neither does the media due to job threats. Meanwhile, we have not yet been paid the additional hours we have worked in the last 6 months, he said.
