Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen has apologized publicly after he and his wife broke the rules of coronavirus ban. He has stated that he will take all the fines if they are imposed on the Albanian owner of the restaurant Sole in Vienna.

Austria has allowed the opening of restaurants until 23:00 pm, but President Van der Bellen and his wife, Doris Schmidaue, were seen by Austrian police drinking until after midnight at the restaurant Sole of the Albanian owner, Aki Nuredini.

According to Austrian media, the restaurant was closed at the time, but they had continued for more than an hour to sit on the restaurant's terrace.

"We wasted our time talking and unfortunately we missed the allowed schedule," he wrote in a post on social media. "I'm sorry, it was a mistake," said President Van der Bellen.

According to the regulation in Austria, if a restaurant is open after 23:00 pm, the fine will be close to 30 thousand euros. For this, the Austrian president has emphasized that if the owner of the restaurant is fined, he is ready to take over everything.
