Jamaica's foreign minister denies Kosovo's recognition

 Vjosa Osmani
The chairwoman of Kosovo Parliament Vjosa Osmani has clarified the fake news of Jamaica's recognition in a press statement, adding the option that Jamaica may have recognized Kosovo but afterward may have intervened a state that is against Kosovo.

But Osmani says a full clarification from the Kosovo Foreign Ministry is needed and she outlined this option after saying she had dealt by herself with the recognition issues.

"We are awaiting an official assessment by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of what happened last night. As the Assembly of Kosovo, we are based on official information and for the time being we have to be careful in our statements until the final clarification of the situation.

As a person dealing with the issue of recognition, I assure you that sometimes, despite information coming in the meantime, due to the intervention of states that are against the Republic of Kosovo, the situation is changing. But I do not want to make a statement without receiving official information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and without getting a definitive explanation of what happened,” Osmani said.

Yesterday, Kosovo's Ambassador to the United States, Vlora Citaku, announced that Jamaica had recognized Kosovo as an independent state. But then it was Jamaica's foreign minister who denied the news.
