Attempted to cross Tirana Airport with the passport of 'friend' resembling him, 24-old Ghanaian arrested

A 24-year-old man from Ghana has been put in police custody while another from Nigeria has been declared wanted.

Evans Amanwah, a young man, has been arrested in the operation, codenamed "Similarity", in an attempt to cross the border with the documents of Otega Okorare from Nigeria, who has been declared wanted.

The 24-year-old attempted to cross the Rinas border crossing point holding the passport of the Nigerian since they had physical similarities but has been detected by Rinas Border Police controllers, based on information available to the Border Police and the Illegal Trafficking Investigation Section of the Tirana DVP.

Investigations showed that Evans Amanwah, having previously obtained the Nigerian Otega Okorare passport for monetary reward, attempted to travel from Rinas airport to EU countries with EU passports, taking advantage of his physical resemblance.

The investigation also suspects that there are other collaborators in organizing and finding persons with similarities to illegally cross the border, working to identify and apprehend them.

The procedural materials will be forwarded to the Prosecutor 's Office of the First Instance Court of Tirana for further investigative actions for the criminal offenses of "Assistance to Illegal Border Crossing" and "Forgery of Identity Cards, Passports or Visas".
