"The only way to maintain peace is to be ready for war, and we must prepare for war," Greek Army Chief of Staff Konstantinos Floros said in Athens today.

The latter spoke of the pressures Greece has from Turkey, calling them "arrogant winds blowing over the Greek sea", saying the Greek military's challenge is to be prepared for any event.

Greece and Turkey have been clashing recently over Aegean oil. Turkey has begun exploring southern Cyprus on the grounds that the country cannot exploit its assets without even considering Turkish Cyprus.

Finally, Turkey has also entered into an agreement with Libya on maritime space, which has deeply troubled Greece and Egypt since it cuts off Greeks' access to south-eastern Aegean and Egyptians to the central Aegean.
