At the #Hashtag Show with KRenare Vokshi-Shala on RTV Dukagjini has been discussed with experts about the newest virus that emerged in China.

The infectologist Valbon Krasniqi says there are several types of virus that are mainly transmitted from animals to humans.

He says the world has previously faced viruses from families of coronaviruses that cause airway infections.

Krasniqi says that the SARS and then MERS viruses that appeared years ago respectively in China and Saudi Arabia are similar to 70% with the recently discovered coronavirus in China.

The doctor says the virus is still new and its ability to spread to the masses is not well known.

"What is known so far is that all viruses, including the corona family of viruses, are that they cannot stay outdoors [outside the human body] for more than 24 hours."

He says the optimal time for the viruses to survive is from a few minutes to a few hours, and in extreme cases may go to 24 hours.

Asked if even goods coming from China could bring the virus, the infectologist said it was not yet known how resistant the virus was.

Krasniqi says that Kosovo has also faced very dangerous viruses such as the one known as the H1N1 or known as the Swine Flu and according to him, Kosovo is already prepared and there is no room for panic.

"So far we have no confirmed or suspected cases of this virus," said infectious disease specialist Valbon Krasniqi.
