Prison Clashes in Avlones prison in Greece, at least 10 wounded

 A clash occurred at the Avlones Greek Prison at around 11am today.

The cause of the clash that erupted between three groups of prisoners - Albanian, Greek, and Afghanis still unknown, Greek media reported.

The clashes came shortly after a raid was carried out by prison guards in the various cells, and this fact caused nervousness among the new inmates.

The confrontations reportedly were extremely violent on the ground floor of the penitentiary institution.

The convicts used forceful means to injure at least ten people, three of whom received serious injuries from craft knives used during the clashes. They were immediately taken to hospital.

The identity of the wounded has not yet been revealed.
