The letter of the 6-year-old Albanian Alex Myteberi that inspired President Obama and the whole World

The letter that 9-year-old Alex Myteberi sent to former US President Barack Obama 3 years ago inspired millions of Americans, but not only.

Alex urged Obama to send the 5-year-old Omran Daqneesh to his home to take care of him along wth his sister Catherine and to share his toys and everything with him.

Alex's mother Valbona Myteberi tells Euronews Albania the story of the letter.

"When Alexander wanted to write the letter to Omran, at first I remembered that would be forgotten, that it was momentary, maybe not serious," she says.

The 9-year-old's mother, however, says he started talking about Omran every day, so he decided to write a letter to then-US President Barack Obama.

After delivering the letter, Valbona confesses that she did not expect to receive a response from the White House.

She is still excited today as she remembers the moment the office writing the president's speeches telephoned her to invite her to go to the world's most famous house.

"When I remember the moment they called me and told me that the president had received the letter, I still get excited today because being a refugee in America is not easy. It was truly an unimaginable moment,” she says.

At the Refugee Summit, attended by leaders of many states, Obama read Alex's letter to deliver a message of peace. The former president said he and others should learn a lot from the boy's words.
