Former British agent James Gustaf Edward Lemesurier found dead in Istanbul

 James Gustaf Edward Lemesurier, a former British intelligence officer has been found dead in Istanbul's Beyoğlu, as  the Istanbul Prefecture announced on Monday.

The body of a former English agent, known for supporting a group called the White Berets in Syria, was found at midnight near the Kilic Ali Pasha Mosque in the Karakoy neighborhood.

An examination of the corpse revealed fractures in the face and hands and feet.

In police records the event is marked as "falling from a height".

Lemesurieri's wife, in her first testimony, said that she had been sleeping at around 4pm and was awake after hearing the door knock and seeing her husband's corpse after being warned by people around.

The cause of the former English agent's death will be revealed after investigations are completed.

The Prefecture of Istanbul also made a statement on the matter, and announced the launch of an extensive administrative and criminal investigation.
