Serbian politician Vuk Drašković: Serbia must recognize Kosovo, it's better for Serbs

Former Foreign Minister of the Serbian-Montenegrin Federation Vuk Draskovic, reiterates that Serbia has lost Kosovo and Serbs must accept this bitter reality.

He advised the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to do what dictates the reason, reality and not be afraid of danger.

“A harsh reality. By United Nations Security Council Resolution 12-44 on June 10, 1999, after the capitulation of Slobodan Milosevic's regime in the war with the NATO Alliance, the state of Serbia has been expelled from Kosovo. It got mixed up! And we must acknowledge and recognize this fact. Russia voted for this resolution and played an important role in its drafting. China was not against it. The whole Security Council was for this expulsion of the state of Serbia from Kosovo,” Draskovic told N1 television.

Draskovic does not understand Moscow and Beijing's current commitment to allegedly defending Serbian sovereignty over Kosovo because these countries have made significant contributions to Kosovo's secession:

“What is the purpose of this policy for the Serbian people here to be held in hypnosis, in the false conviction that Kosovo is still an autonomous province of Serbia? So Kosovo is lost. This is the reality,” he continued.

The Serbian politician added that despite this, the Serb people in Kosovo, whose cultural treasures, churches, monasteries should be preserved and protected, should not be lost, but warns, this can only be done in strategic cooperation with Europe and America, but also with a sincere agreement with Albanians in Kosovo. Speaking of resolving the dispute, the former Yugoslav diplomat has re-argued his earlier idea that Kosovo and Serbia could live as the two Germans did after World War II.Former Foreign Minister of the Serbian-Montenegrin Federation Vuk Draskovic, reiterates that Serbia has lost Kosovo and Serbs must accept this bitter reality.
