In 2020 Mother Teresa Square will become a fully pedestrian space. The announcement is made by the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, through a message posted on social networks on the occasion of the 109th anniversary of the birth of the Albanian humanist and saint, Mother Teresa.

He points out that after the cafeteria at Unit 4 and the school that has begun to be built in Kodër-Kamza bearing the name of the Albanian humanist Mother Teresa, the Municipality of Tirana has decided for the square that also bears her name that should be turned into a a space entirely dedicated to citizens and not to the vehicles.

“109 years since the birth of Mother Teresa, the great Albanian saint! In 2018 - we opened the 'Mother Teresa' Social Canteen. In 2019 - we started building the Mother Teresa school. In 2020 - we transformed to pedestrian the Mother Teresa Square. Albania has changed a lot, but the mission has remained the same, always close to those in need,” writes Veliaj.

In the late hours of the afternoon, this square turns into a pedestrian with no traffic but starting from next year will officially be pedestrian.
