The Israeli television Channel 12 reported that, in order to maintain its military superiority in the region, Israel is working behind the curtain to prevent the United States from selling the F-35 fighter jet to Turkey.

Drawing the attention to the fact that Turkey has bought S-400 air defense system from Russia, Israeli television makes the following assessment: "Israel used the acquisition that (Turkish President Recep Tayyip) Erdogan made from Russia on missile defense systems and put pressure on Washington to cancel the sales of fighter jets on Turkey, as the official website of the Radio Television of Turkey reports.

In the last two years, the US has delivered 16 new F-35 aircraft to Israel, ensuring that Israel is the only country in the region to have the kind of jets with such combat capabilities.

The Israeli government has contracted with the US firm Lockheed Martin to buy at least 50 F-35 jets, benefiting from US funding (for military aid), and aims to get them all by the end of 2024.
