Who is Ermir Dervishi, convicted in Albania and Italy for murder and suspected links with the Durres band

 Ermir Dervishi, 48, was arrested by the Durrës Police on behalf of the Italian authorities, a state in which he was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1999, for a murder committed two decades ago. Albanian police say Dervishi will be extradited to Italy.

But who is Ermir Dervishi?

In November 2011, RENEA arrested Ermir Dervishi in the area known as 'Fresku' in Tirana, because of he was on the list of wanted people for the murder of Gentian Duro in 1998 in Kavaja. The Kavaja Court sentenced him to 20 years' imprisonment in absentia for this crime in 2001.

Even the Supreme Court did not accept the recourse.

Meanwhile, following the arrest by RENEA, in 2012, Dervishi addresses the Constitutional Court for an improper court trial against him. This court partially admits in February 2013 and returns it to the Durrës Court of Appeal.

After the murder of Duro, Dervishi left Albania and then returned after being declared wanted after committing another murder and he was sentenced for life imprisonment, while today he is arrested on behalf of Italian justice.

During investigative and judicial proceedings, Ermir Dervishi has been accuaws of close ties with the Durres gang but these links were not officially confirmed.
