The General Director of Taxation, Enton Duro, has been dismissed from office just three months after being assigned in this post.

Sources from the Ministry of Finance said the dismissal came due to poor performance in revenue collection.

Duro has substituted in this task Vasilika Vjero, who left the post three years later because of personal reasons.

The tax performance has been weak this year, reflecting the slowdown in the economic growth from 4% last year to only 2.1% in the first quarter of this year, the closure of the gambling activity as well as the fact that the major projects such as pipeline Devoll's TAP and HPP are in the final face, has affected the activity of the companies that have been associated with them.

In the first five months of the year, the income from taxes has been ALL 61.9 billion, an increase of 5.8%, resulting in 1.3% or about ALL 800 million less than the plan.

The worst was the performance of the customs, with an increase of 0.5% on an annual basis for the 5-month period, or about 2 billion less than the plan.
