Serbian Orthodox cemetery damaged in Kosovo
Kosovo police say is conducting investigations after reports that "some stones of Serbian Orthodox cemeteries were damaged" in Lipljan municipality, about 20 kilometers south of Pristina.

There is no detail currently about the perpetrators or possible motives of this incident that prompted local Serb reaction.

Gracanica Mayor Srdjan Popovic said after a visit to the scene that this incident "is a sign that Serbs are not desirable in Lipljan municipality".

He said that local Serb residents are concerned and "it is now the opportunity for the institutions to illuminate the case and to prove that there are more reasonable people than unreasonable in Kosovo".

The incident was condemned by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe mission, which urged all local leaders to appeal against such actions.

"The cemeteries are sacred to families and communities, and their desecration encourages painful feelings," says the OSCE mission's reaction, which hopes Kosovo's police to shine this case as soon as possible.
