NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Prime Minister Edi Rama talked today also about the possibility of Russian influence in the region, referring to numerous protests in Belgrade, Albania and beyond.

The head of NATO said Russia has always been trying to get involved in the various EU and NATO processes.

"I call on all political actors to take part in the dialogue. We have seen Russia's efforts to engage in our various processes and NATO allied countries. About your country, I will leave this issue to your Prime Minister," said Stoltenberg.

On the other hand, the Prime Rama stressed that Russia's approach to NATO and EU integration processes is not friendly. He also spoke of an unusual situation in Albania, where, according to him, some opposition forces are warning and are trying for something to happen.

"It is no secret that Russia's approach to NATO, towards the EU, towards integration processes is not a friendly approach. Secondly, I want to underline the fact that in no NATO country has happened what is happening here and what some of the main opposition forces are warning and apparently trying to happen here. It would undoubtedly be an 'indelible blot' for our country as a NATO member state which is not a military alliance but a military alliance of a group of countries that share principles and values that are not negotiable. Certainly, such a thing does not go in favor of the country, does not conform to the interests or the values of both NATO and the EU and as such pours water in the mill of those who do not want the country's integration neither in NATO nor in the EU," Rama declared.
