 The Albanian athlete Izmir Smajlaj sets new national record in long jump. Shkodrani was declared the champion of Albania with the score 8 meters and 11 centimeters.

He aims to repeat this extraordinary result. Izmir Smajlaj wants to be again the champion of Europe, as he did two years ago in Belgrade, but meanwhile there is no other achievement.

Not only he was announced again the national champion in the long jump, in the race held in Shkodra in Lororo Borici stadium, but also because he set a new record. He postet himself on social networks this great news; was 8 meters and 11 centimeters, 8 centimeters more than the previous record held by him.

The Shkodra Athlete can be said to have created a normality, as before this record, he had the best jump in the closed hall, and in the final of the European Championship in 2017 in Serbia, where he won with 8m and 8 centimeters.

Albania's best male sportsman thanked publicly on Facebook his family, the coach Gjergj Ruli at the same time president of the Athletics Federation, his friends and fans.

At the age 26, 1 meter and 96 centimeter tall, Smajlaj is believed to be able to improve his record in the near future to approach the world record of 8 meters and 95 centimeters, and the European record of 8 meters and 86 centimeters.

Smajlaj is part of the Tirana Sports Club, funded by the Municipality of Tirana.
