Albania begins the removal of roaming tariffs for Kosovo citizens

The Minister of Economic Development of Kosovo, Valdrin Lluka has announced that Albania has already started implementing the agreement on the abolition of roaming tariffs for the citizens of Kosovo. So, all Kosovo citizens who visit Albania can now communicate without roaming.

"Albania has started implementing the roaming tariff abolition agreement for all Kosovo citizens visiting the Motherland. Pleasant communication!" He writes. In recent declarations, Kosovo Government officials had promised that the removal of the roaming between Kosovo and Albania will take place in May this year.

"We as Kosovo are ready to apply  immediately the 'roming', but I believe that Tirana will soon make that decision through the government and parliament and in May we will not have a problem with 'roming' and will implemented ", said a few days ago in a press release the national coordinator of both governments, Fatmir Limaj.

The 'roaming' tariff means the telecommunications and the service that the citizens use in a different country from a mobile phone center. These tariffs are mostly twice as high as those used for telecommunications within a country.

The abolition of telecommunications tariffs for the Western Balkan countries has been sought by the European Union as a form of facilitation for communication between citizens. Whereas in April 2018 at the first Digital Summit held in Skopje has been announced the price reduction of 'roming' among the Balkan countries.
