Maja Kocijancic

The European Union condemns the denial of the Račak Massacre, one of the many massacres of the Serbian military forces in Kosovo in 1998-1999.

Maja Kocijancic, the spokeswoman of the EU's High Representative for Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini, has voiced against the denial or relativization of war crimes in the Western Balkans.

"The denial and the revisionism are against the values of the European Union and against the Western Balkans integration project in the European Union," Kocijancic said.

"By respecting the victims, the authorities must adhere to and work for a sincere and realistic assessment of the future," she said.

Kocijancic made these comments as official Belgrade and a Serbian minister in the Kosovo Government denied Račak Massacre by Serb forces.

Kocijancic confirmed that her boss, Federica Mogherini, will attend the dinner organized by the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emanuel Macron, where the leaders of the Western Balkans will meet. She has described this informal meeting as a good opportunity to "address the challenges" and to increase the reconciliation efforts, good neighborly relations and regional cooperation.
