Massive protests ongoing in Belgrade and other cities of Serbia

Thousands of protesters marched on the streets of Belgrade on Saturday evening, a week since entering the Radio Television State (RTS) building, according to them, against the autocratic government of President Aleksandar Vucic and unilateral media during the coverage of protests.

Saturday's protests marked the 16th week of protests against Vucic's Government. Thousands of protesters gathered in front of the Serbian radio-television building, demanding the freedom of media. They have held red roses and candles in remembrance of journalists who have been killed in Serbia in the last 30 years. On March 16, the protesters led by Right-Wing Opposition leader Bosko Obradovic were forced violently into the RTS state-building, demanding to address the people. Their request was not completed and at least 18 people were arrested during police intervention. Following last week's protests, the president vowed to protect the law and order in the country.

"I am their limitl at the time when I want to establish political consolidation and economic development," he said.

Anti-government protests "One in Five Million" are held in Belgrade every Saturday since December 8 last year. In the meantime, they have been extended to other cities in Serbia. The protesters, including public figures, opposition politicians, university professors, and others, demand more space on public television, then the discover the orderers and perpetrators, as they say, the attacks on citizens, journalists, activists and politicians, and the publication of "plan for resolving the Kosovo issue". Last month, Freedom House - an international organization on human rights and freedoms in the world - has published the annual report in which has degraded Serbia from the category of 'free country' in the category 'partly free country'.
