Albanians give up big purchases because of pessimism

Albanian consumers are involved in a pessimistic circle, since one years have avoided big purchases.

Even the real performance of large purchases, which is involved the real estate, has been even worse than consumer expectations, according to a survey by the Bank of Albania on the financial situation of individuals in the fourth quarter of 2018.

The vast majority of consumers claimed that in the fourth quarter of 2018 they didn't bought goods of great value. The balance of responses was negative in more than 61 percent.

In the survey conducted in the third quarter of 2018, that the buyers were expecting large purchases in the fourth quarter, the negative response balance was over 44 percent, but the actual real developments in purchases in the fourth quarter were unrealistic since the balance of negatively responses exceeded 61 percent.

Since the fourth quarter of 2016, consumers were more optimistic about big purchases, as developments have been more aggravated than expectations.

Economic experts link the abandonment of purchases to older emigration effect. A recent Gallup poll found that 60 percent of Albanians are planning to emigrate.

Not planning their future in our country they does not buy goods of big value such as home or land, or other costly tools.

This behavior of consumers is detrimental to the economy, as on the other hand, the supply in the construction sector is growing.
