Albanian President Meta rejects to decree the new foreign minister Gent Cakaj; because he's from Kosovo?
Ilir Meta

The Albanian President Ilir Meta rejects the nomination proposal for Mr. Gent Cakaj as the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

Mr. Cakaj is of Kosovo origin.

Meta lists the reasons of the decree refusal, stressing that he has no experience and has held before unacceptable public attitudes to the issue of Kosovo's borders.

Gent Cakaj was nominated to be appointed by Prime Minister Edi Rama in the vacant post after Ditmir Bushati has been dismissed by Rama during the National Assembly that was held on December 28th.

This is the first time an Albanian President rejects the decree of an "external" minister. But we recall that Meta initially rejected the decree of Sandër Lleshaj, but after the withdrawal of Lleshaj from the title of the General, the President approved him.
