More than 200 Greeks aren't allowed to enter Albania for Kacifas death commemoration, including journalist and an arrested police

  About 200 Greek citizens are not allowed to enter in Albania through the Kakavija checkpoint in order to participate in the 40th day of the death of Kostandinos Kacifas. Among them are also people who have been declared by Albania non grata. The mass is held at 11:00 am in the village of Bularat, Gjirokastra. 

Yesterday the Albanian authorities banned the entry to Kakavija border crossing point a Greek journalist. The journalist Panajotis Savidis, who works for the Greek newspaper Protothema, has been informed that he is a non-grata person in Albania and therefore cannot enter the Albanian territory. Aso is denied access to Kakavija's customs to 4 Greek nationals.

It is also announced by Albanian police in all border crossing points a list with 52 non-grata Greek citizens. 

While a Greek police officer was arrested by Saranda police with holding a gun as he accompanied the Greek deputy Vasili Jojaka, to the village of Bularat. 

Police report that the citizen with initials M.G., 35, a police officer in Igumenica, is arrested at around 09:45 at the "Saranda-Gjirokastra" highway at the place called "Kranje Bridge" while he was traveling towards of the village of Bularat, Gjirokastër. 

The 35-year-old has been caught in flagrante by police services with an unlicensed firearm, a six-cartridges pistol type. 


The materials of his custody were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office of of Saranda for further actions for the criminal offense of "Production and Unlicensed Handling of Arms and Ammunition", provided by Article 278 of the Criminal Code.

Kostandinos Kacifas was killed by RENEA forces on October 28, 2018 during a shotout with police, while during his burial ceremony are heard extremist anti-Albanian calls.
