90 year old Turkish man 'becomes Albanian' by assuming the passport

 This is the story of Fikret Tevfik Oktay, a Turkish citizen from Ankara of Albanian origin bz his father, who was a major in the Ottoman Empire Army and then of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, with whom he had also personal friendship.

Because of the wars in the Balkan region and then in the world, its ties to Albania were completely disconnected. Subsequently, the communist regime in Albania made it impossible to communicate with the outside world. For years, the family of Oktay and their relatives in Albania, who are the family of former MP Flamur Çelaj, never forgot their family ties.

the Albanian saying goes "the blood cannot become water" and turns out to be true in this case, thanks to extraordinary efforts on both sides, the family was reunited after many years.

According to former MP Flamur Çelaj, regardless of his age, Fikret's desire to have the Albanian passport was one of the biggest dreams in his life. This was accomplished thanks to the decree of citizenship by the President of Albania, Ilir Meta. Fikret wants to spend the last years of his life as an Albanian citizen.

After receiving the Albanian passport, the Çelaj Family organized a party with traditional Albanian motifs. Today Fikret Tevfik Oktay is 90 years old and took the Albanian passport to give a patriotic message to all Albanians.
