Although the Ministry of Infrastructure refused to announce the bid for the concession of the Tirana-Durres road, Oculus News souces managed to provide some of its most important details.

Confident sources say the bidder is a large Indian group with several highway concessions in Asia but in Albania is represented by two local companies, Albstar, which is building the National Arena Football Stadium as well as Trema Engineering.

But how will citizens be affected by the concession of this road? The feasibility study, which has not been made public by the government, predicts two tariffs.

For small vehicles, 2 euros will be paid for each pass, while for large vehicles the fee will be 5 euros.

The Tirana-Durres concession project foresees that the private company will expand the two main lanes along the main road and provide an alternative way of free passage.

It is about the old road Tirana-Ndroq-Plepa, which will be reconstructed by the private company.

In the 2019 draft budget, the government has set the ceiling value for this concession the value of 49.1 billion leks or around 380 million euros.

The granting of the concession of the road Tirana-Durres is still in the project stage.

The government has officially accepted that it has received an unsolicited bid, but the Ministry of Infrastructure stated that this offer is under review and it is not yet decided whether to accept it or not.

Thus, figures such as road construction, such as transit fees, are still not official and will be definitively determined only if the Transport Ministry decides to accept the concession offer.
