The New Airport in Istanbul is built in the 'Village of the Albanians'

 In Istanbul, a new airport is opened today, for which the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ordered a solemn opening. The area where the new Istanbul airport is build is called "Arnavutkoy", which translated in Turkish lenguage means "The Village of Albanians".

The inauguration of this airport was attended also by the Albanian President Ilir Meta and the President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci, invited by Erdogan.

Part of the opening ceremony of this airport were also heads of states and diplomats from different countries of the world.

Istanbul's new airport is opened on 95th anniversary of Turkey's Republic Day.

We recall that today's was the opening ceremony of the first phase, while the second phase is expected to be completed in 2023.


After the completion of the works, the airport will consist of six separate tracks with a capacity of 500 aircraft, open and closed parking with a capacity of 70 thousand vehicles and will serve to about 200 million passenger annually.

Turkish authorities pretend that this will be the biggest airport in the world.
