On Sunday, October 7, at 9am, the capital will host the 3rd edition of the Marathon of Tirana, where 5,000 contestants from more than 40 countries will compete for three different categories.
The municipality suggests that, unlike the past two editions, this year's marathon will permeate in some of the most attractive and panoramic points of Tirana, such as the Artificial Lake area.On Saturday and Sunday there will be a limitation on the circulation of vehicles in some road segments where the Marathon of Tirana will pass.
Due to the "Fun Run" children's race on saturday, the car circulation on "Mother Teresa" square is limited, following the "Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard, "Murat Toptani Street, Myslym Shyri Street, Ibrahim Rugova Street, and the Boulevard Dëshmorët e Kombit, from 08:00 to 12:00 on 06 October 2018.
The traffic of vehicles, emergency vehicles and the State Police affected by this restriction will take place in the streets Lek Dukagjini, Ibrahim Rugova, Abdyl Frashëri and "Pope John Paul II. Whereas, the roadmap for the movement of public transport vehicles will deviate from Abdyl Frashëri Street to the Ibrahim Rugova Street; the Boulevard Zhan D'Ark and Boulevard Bajram Curri will be diverted to the Bridge of Police Directorate and to the bridge of Elbasani Street.
While for the big Sunday Race, part of the organizing plan for marathon progression is the ban on traffic on the Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard, Abdi Toptani, George W. Bush, Barrikad Street, Ura Pano, Ded Gjo Luli, Rruga e Kavajës to the Catholic Church and return, Ibrahim Rugova, "Lek Dukagjini", as well as the entrance sections of Myslym Shyri from the crossing of the Directorate of Police to the center, Durrës Street from the intersection with the Mine Peza road to the center, Boulevard Zogu I from Dervish Hatixhe to the center, Dibra Street from Selvia to the center, Luigj Gurakuqi Street from Avni Rustemi square to the center, on 07 October 2018, starting from 05:00 until 14:00.
The traffic of vehicles, emergency vehicles and the State Police affected by this ban will take place in the Middle Ring, except for the bridge segment of Police Directorate to Elbasan Street, Sami Frashëri Street Pope John Paul II, Elbasan Street, Vaso Pasha street, Myslym Shyri to Sami Frashëri Street, Hoxha Tahsin Street and Avni Rustemi Square.
The access to the Skerdilajd Llagami Street will be carried out through Faik Konica Street, which will be provisionally converted with two sense of movement. Meanwhile, the movement of public transport means will take place: Elbasani Street will be diverted to Arben Broci Street; the Hoxha Tahsin Street will be diverted to the square Avni Rustemi Street; Dibra Street will be diverted to Medrese; Kavaja Street will be diverted to Bread Factory; Boulevard Zhan D'Ark and Boulevard Bajram Curri will be diverted to the Bridge of Police Directorate and to the bridge of Elbasani Street; Sulejman Delvina street will be diverted to Wilson Square; Durrës Street will be diverted to Karl Topia Square and Boulevard Zogu I will be diverted to Dervish Hatixhe street.
