The Elbasan-Tirana highway continues to "eat" millions of dollars. In today's meeting of the Committee on Economy and Finance, Infrastructure Minister Damian Gjiknuri said that the Elbasan-Tirana road requires $ 138 million more than initially planned.
"The cost of the road has gone up to $ 450 million, out of $ 312 as has been predicted," the minister said.Further in terms of road maintenance, Gjiknuri said that has come the moment for the road users to contribute. He said that the road network of Albania needs around $ 50 million to be mantained.
Initially, the tender for the Elbasan-Tirana road was won by the Greek company "Aktor", with a total value of 312.5 million dollars. But so far, the road bill has reached 44% more than the tendered value.
