Greece allows Albanian emigrants to vote

 The Greek Labor Ministry announced today that will not penalize Albanian emigrants receiving social assistance if they travel to Albania to vote in the June 25th parliamentary elections.

The notification which allows Albanian emigrants to move to their homeland on the occasion of voting, was distributed to all social assistance offices in the country.

The notification says the deadline for the movement will be for 5 days, starting on Friday, June 23. This deadline is valid until Tuesday, June 27.

Outside this deadline, sanctions and penalties will be held according to normal procedures for violating the deadlines provided by law, sources from this ministry clarify.

Albanian emigrants should take care, as the movement is allowed only for border crossings with Albania and only within the deadlines set by this ministry.

According to Greek law, assistance is available to all Greek and foreign citizens traveling abroad without a particular cause like health, death, etc.

Any person receiving assistance should first inform the local authorities in writing and obtain a special permit with a defined time limit.

Special permission was granted to Albanian emigrants, after the interest expressed by the Albanian Foreign Ministry.

For the holiday season, this ministry announced that will again issue another permit, the deadline of which will be announced during July./Oculus News
