Italian Call Centers may go - 25,000 Albanians risking the job

The Italian Senate is expected to approve on December 6 the closing of business Call Center at non-member countries of the EU.

Albania remains one of the most vulnerable countries, specifically where 25 thousand citizens are at risk of losing their jobs, while the average net salary of employees goes about 400 euros.

The President of Union of Chambers of Commerce of Albania, Ines Muçostepa in an interview for Panorama said the adoption of the bill by the Senate Italian, aims to remove the Business Call Center from Albania, where the immediate cost is about 10,000 unemployed.

Referring to the Tax Administration official data, in Albania are registered 847 Call Center companies, while employees are 25 thousand people.

The opening of these companies in our country, according Muçostepa, was due to the lower cost of opening a business and cheap labor force.

According to her, the cheap labor cost has pushed Italian owners to open their branches in Albania. The chairwoman of the Union of Chambers informs that in case of the adoption of the law, these companies will not return to operate in Italy, because of high taxes.

The business representative said that together with parent companies in Italy is lobbying for the disapproval of the law, while the Albanian companies themselves have also sought the intervention of Prime Minister Rama.

Companies are also lobbying with the Italian state, where the argument being used is the opening of negotiations for EU membership of the country and the guarantee of delivery standards.
