Karadzic sentenced to 40 years in prison for war crimes and genocide

 War Crimes Court of Hague read the verdict for former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic, who is accused of being responsible for a campaign of terror in the city of Sarajevo in Bosnia War in 1992-1995.

Karadzic is found guilty of genocide and war crimes. He was sentenced to 40 years in prison. He faced numerous charges of genocide and crimes against humanity. 

The 70-year-old also faced charges of the murder of more than 8 thousand Muslim men and boys from Srebrenica when ethnic Serb forces executed the hostages.

There were 11 charges for war crimes, crimes against humanity, murder, deportation, terror and unlawful attacks against civilians.

He was arrested on the outskirts of Belgrade in July 2008. After his arrest, was extradited to the Netherlands to face the Hague judges.
