Albanian authorities deported back to Greece six Syrian who  crossed illegally the border. Police said Saturday they have arrested an Albanian citizen, 47, who helped Syrians to cross a mountainous area near the town of Gjirokastra taking 300 euro each.

The person in question is accused of assistance for illegal border crossing, which is a punishable criminal offense up to seven years in prison.

Albania is cooperating with Italy and European agencies to prevent possible flow of migrants.

Tirana has said will not open the border, but also will not build a wall and called for joint European effort if the path of migrants will pass through Albania. This month, several Balkan and European countries have closed the borders to migrants, prompting thousands of migrants to remain trapped in Greece. Last year, over a million migrants arrived in the EU countries, most of them fled from Middle East.
