Three Australian sisters seek the roots of their fathers in Albania

Giovana Motton, Francesca Mills dhe Yvonne Duckitt are three sisters who traveled from Australia to Albania to find the roots and relatives of their father in Albania.

Vesel Çereneci left Elbasan before Liberation and could no longer return. He married an Italian woman, with whom he had 4 children, three daughters and one son. Veseli died young, but his daughters, already elderly ladies, came to Elbasan to seek their relatives.

"We are from Australia and we have come to find our relatives from our father. He was born in Albania, emigrated to Italy in 1940 and in 1946 married a beautiful Italian lady, our mother. We always knew where our father came from, what he did, but we never knew our relatives," says Giovanna in an interview to Top Channel.

The decision to come to Albania brought three sisters together, because something was missing in their past. While Albania was love at first glance.

"Oh, I love Albania. I can not wait to go back to Australia, to tell my friends about Albania. I'm trying to find the words to describe it. It's old, new, interesting, pretty, the number one," says Francesca.

"I hope to return. I would like to come back and spend more time in Albania and above all to stay in touch with our relatives who are here now and are to many," says Giovanna.

The three sisters will also go to Debar to find their father's birth certificate, a document that matters to them.

"His certificate would be something with which we keep going, we will learn about his parents because we know nothing about them. And that letter is an inheritance for us and our children," Yvonne said.
