Isteri was struck and killed by a garbage collection truck while accompanying her 9-year-old daughter to school. The accident happened shortly before 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of Passarella and Paolo VI streets.

The girl escaped injury because she was several meters ahead of her mother and had already crossed the road. The truck was turning right when it struck Isteri, who died at the scene.

Emergency crews and firefighters used a crane to lift the heavy vehicle, but attempts to save the woman were unsuccessful.

The tragedy has deeply shocked the local community and the Marco Polo primary school, where the woman’s daughter attends. Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash, including possible visibility issues related to the blind spots of heavy vehicles operating in residential areas.
