Eno Agasi Arrested After Eight Months on the Run Over Missing Wine Seized in AKSHI Investigation

Eno Agasi, cousin of businessman Ergys Agasi, has been arrested in Tirana after spending around eight months on the run, in connection with the disappearance of hundreds of bottles of expensive wine seized during an investigation involving the National Agency of Information Society (AKSHI).

Agasi was arrested in the Kodra e Diellit area of Tirana while traveling in a vehicle, according to Albanian media reports. A Tirana court had previously ordered his detention in prison, and he had been declared wanted by authorities.

The case centers on wine that was seized by the Special Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) during searches connected to the investigation into Ergys Agasi in December 2025.

According to reports, authorities had inventoried the wine and left it temporarily at the cellar because the quantity could not be transported during the night due to customs procedures. When officials returned the following day to collect it, the bottles had disappeared. Reports put the collection at around 600 bottles, with some outlets estimating its value in the hundreds of thousands of euros or higher.

Eno Agasi is being investigated in connection with the disappearance and alleged obstruction of the investigation. Different Albanian media reports have cited charges or suspicions including theft, money laundering and actions aimed at obstructing the discovery of the truth.

The AKSHI Investigation

The arrest of Eno Agasi is linked to the wider investigation surrounding his cousin, Ergys Agasi, who was arrested in August after being wanted by SPAK in connection with the AKSHI case.

Ergys Agasi is accused by prosecutors of serious criminal offenses allegedly committed as part of a structured criminal group connected to activities surrounding public procurement at AKSHI. He has denied the allegations through his legal defense, and the accusations remain subject to judicial proceedings.

The wider investigation includes allegations involving corruption, money laundering and other serious offenses. SPAK had previously carried out searches and seized assets in connection with the case before Agasi was arrested in Durrës in August.

How Did the Wine Disappear?

The disappearance of the wine has become one of the most unusual episodes connected to the investigation.

According to reports, the bottles were discovered during searches at property linked to Ergys Agasi and were subsequently inventoried. Because of the quantity and customs procedures, they were reportedly left temporarily at the premises rather than removed immediately.

When investigators returned, the wine was gone.

Some reports have also alleged that surveillance-camera footage was removed, adding another element to the investigation into what happened to the seized property.

The case is being followed by Tirana prosecutor Bledar Valikaj, according to Albanian media reports. The Tirana Prosecutor's Office had reportedly initially handled the investigation concerning the missing wine before declaring itself without jurisdiction and transferring the matter to SPAK, where it was linked to the broader AKSHI proceedings.

The arrest of Eno Agasi now places both cousins in custody as investigators continue examining the alleged financial and criminal network surrounding the AKSHI investigation.
