Mustafi argued that while Kumanovo is struggling with waste collection and other basic public services, the local government is allocating hundreds of thousands of euros to projects he says are not among the city's most urgent needs.

Questions Over Municipal Priorities

According to Mustafi, garbage has accumulated across neighborhoods while the municipality says it lacks sufficient funds and is seeking loans to purchase new waste-collection trucks.

At the same time, he questioned the allocation of €600,000 for an Orthodox cemetery, arguing that no funding has been allocated for Muslim cemeteries.

“We are not against the renovation and maintenance of religious facilities. But every public expenditure must be reasonable, transparent and in line with the real needs of citizens.”

Mustafi said the issue goes beyond the municipal budget and concerns equal treatment, accountability and spending priorities.

He called on Dimitrievski to explain why hundreds of thousands of euros can be found for certain projects while basic services such as waste collection, roads and infrastructure are repeatedly presented as requiring additional borrowing.
