Gazmend Freitag Honored as "Painter of the Year 2025" in Gjirokastër

  On August 25, 2026, the magical historic city of Gjirokastër served as the breathtaking backdrop for a remarkable cultural celebration. During the "Festaniada e Titujve" event, prominent diaspora painter Gazmend Freitag (Austria) was officially bestowed with a high and prestigious honor.

  Diaspora painter Gazmend Freitag proudly displays his "Painter of the Year 2025" certificate awarded by LNPSHA "PEGASI" Albania during the cultural celebration in Gjirokastër.

The LNPSHA "PEGASI" Albania, in collaboration with the Pegasian Alternative Academy of Albania and the Alternative Academy of Brazil, proudly awarded him the high pegasian title: "Painter of the Year 2025".

This international recognition highlights Freitag’s exceptional artistic dedication, vibrant creativity, and his ongoing contribution to bridging cultures through fine art between his homeland and Austria, where he currently lives and creates.

Following the formal ceremony, the celebrated artist took the opportunity to immerse himself in the timeless beauty of Gjirokastër. He explored the city's iconic stone architecture and paid a special visit to the Art Gallery of the renowned painter, iconographer, and master carver Drini Difo, blending a day of personal triumph with a deep appreciation of Albanian artistic heritage.
