Albania recorded 844 road accidents during the first seven months of 2026, a 10% increase compared with 767 cases during the same period last year, according to preliminary INSTAT data.

165 Accidents in July
During July alone, 165 road accidents were recorded, involving 235 people killed or injured. Human behavior remained the leading factor, accounting for 90.3% of crashes.
People aged 25–34 represented 21.8% of cases, while Thursday was the day with the most accidents, at 18.8%. The most dangerous period was between 7:00 p.m. and midnight, when 25.5% of accidents occurred.
Tirana led the country with 59 accidents, followed by Fier and Lezhë with 20 each, while Durrës and Gjirokastër recorded 15 each.
The latest figures underline the continuing road-safety problem in Albania, with both the number of crashes and the number of people affected increasing compared with 2025.
