| Political analyst and professor Avni Mazreku, who proposed a list of 12 potential consensual candidates for the presidency of Kosovo amid political deadlock. |
“Taking into consideration the views and positions of the current political actors, who seem to have become stuck in proposing a name or names that would be acceptable and consensual for the position of President of the country, I take the liberty of proposing several names,” Mazreku wrote.
His proposed list includes:
- Muhamedin Kullashi
- Harry Bajraktari
- Uk Lushi
- Hysen Sali Çekaj
- Sabri Kiqmari
- Agim Çeku
- Glauk Konjufca
- Ramë Vataj
- Besa Buqinca
- Ferid Berisha
- Bekim Shyti
- Shqiptar Demaçi
Mazreku emphasized that the people on his list are not necessarily figures without political involvement. However, he argues that, at different times, they have demonstrated an ability to rise above narrow party interests and political divisions.
“There are many, many other names as well, but in my view, these are just some of the names whom I believe can and may always rise beyond the party ‘umbrella’,” Mazreku said.
His proposal comes amid the broader political debate over Kosovo’s next president, with the issue requiring political actors to find a figure capable of securing sufficiently broad support.
