The padel competition runs from August 22 to 28 at the Salinella Mediterranean Park in Taranto, with athletes from 18 countries competing in men's, women's and mixed events.

A Historic Debut for Padel

Taranto 2026 marks the first time padel is included as a medal sport in the official Mediterranean Games programme. A total of 88 athletes are taking part, while the competition features men's, women's and mixed doubles.

Albania and Kosovo are among the 18 national federations participating in this historic edition, alongside countries including Spain, Italy, France, Portugal, Greece and Türkiye.

More Than a Match

The Albania–Kosovo encounter represents more than a sporting contest. It places two growing padel communities on an international stage at a moment when the sport is rapidly expanding across the Mediterranean.

Kosovo has already celebrated a historic victory in Taranto, with brothers Lavdrim and Leotrim Krasniqi securing a win on their Mediterranean Games debut.

The tournament will continue through August 28, when the first historic Mediterranean padel medals will be awarded.

For Albania and Kosovo, Taranto offers an opportunity not only to compete, but also to help write the first chapter of padel's history at the Mediterranean Games.
